MANUFACTURING PROCESS

VERTICAL MILL SPARES
Vertical mills are used in thermal power plants, cement industries and mining industries for crushing applications only. The two major ear parts used in such mills are grinding rolls/tyres and table liners/table segments/bull ring segments.
There are various kinds of grinding rolls and table liners which are being offered in the market and every customer prefers the same depending on the cost economics:
- Weld-over lay rolls/table liners
- Hi-Cr rolls/table liners
- Ni-hard rolls/high chrome table liners
- High performance rolls/table liners
Weld-over technology has lost most of the market share. Although it gives a good wear life but is very expensive and does not fit in e economies of scale.
High chrome rolls have also lost market share from the point of view of economics. Not only high chrome is more difficult to machine, but also the expensive high chrome material is lost in the inner core.
The combination of Ni-hard rolls and high chrome table liners still holds a significant market share as the cheaper cast iron core is easier to machine. SBIPL manufactures the same through bi-metallic technology in the below trade.

HIGH PERFORMANCE ELEMENTS
High performance rolls
Through our in-house R&D, experience of the engineers and feedback from our customers, we have developed high performance grinding rolls. Our unique design of carbide tip rolls overcome the problem of slippage and collar formation as the quantum increase in angle of bite results in virtually zero slippage of coal and consistent output of the mill with virtually zero mill rejects. This results in uniform wear on the entire wearing face, without formation of wrinkles or wave on the wearing surface and the collar is virtually non-existent. As a result of this, output of the mill is consistently high and the fineness of the coal ground is uniformly maintained at more than 80% passing through 200 mesh sieves as desired. Since the wear is uniform, rollers can be used up to 80 mm wear, without drop in the mill efficiency, output and fineness.
The hard carbide tips are mechanically fixed to rolls, with more than adequate strength in such a fashion hat they remain in position throughout their life cycle. The carbide tips offer excellent wear resistance due o their extremely high hardness. The intermittent gap maintained between adjacent tips ensure gripping of coal particles and avoid material slippage. This ensures excellent grinding efficiency throughout the life cycle of the rolls.
High performance bull ring segments
The bull ring segment metallurgy is specially developed to give excellent physical, mechanical and metallurgical properties. Heat treatment is done to achieve microstructure of chromium carbides in a matrix of tempered martensite. Special heat treatment controls retained austenite below 5%. This allows BRS to be used even up to 45 mm wear without losing the grinding efficiency while maintaining consistently high mill output and coal fineness.
